PT Mitratani Dua Tujuh successfully carried out the first harvest of edamame pilot project of frozen vegetables business development in collaboration with PTPN I Regional 1 at Sei Semayang Garden, Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra, on Friday, October 25, 2024.
The event was attended by the Head of the Food Security Office, Representative of the Deli Serdang Agriculture Office, Plh Kadiv Sekper PTPN I, Region Head PTPN I Regional 1, Director and Commissioner of PT Mitratani Dua Tujuh with a visit to the edamame field to see firsthand the plant maintenance phase.
The Director of PT Mitratani Dua Tujuh, Mr. Tumbas Ginting said that this first harvest is an important moment for the company because it shows that edamame has great potential to become a superior agricultural product in North Sumatra thanks to favorable climatic conditions.
The same thing was also conveyed by the Region Head of PTPN I Regional 1 Mr. Didiek Prasetyo who appreciated the success of the first harvest, If edamame continues to be developed and supported by processing plant facilities in Deli Serdang, product prices will be more competitive seeing the proximity to the port of Belawan can provide great benefits in terms of logistics for export.
The success of this first edamame harvest is expected to be the first step in expanding the scope of PT Mitratani Dua Tujuh’s frozen vegetable production in domestic and international markets because it is a commodity that continues to experience an increase in global demand and is believed to be a new flagship in the Sumatra Utara agricultural industry.
